Muscle Beach conjures up thoughts of muscular toned bodies, sunshine, sand and the Pacific Ocean. Muscle Beach is host to physical fitness buffs and tourists alike. The weight pit is visible from the boardwalk, so even if you don’t want to work out, you can still enjoy the view. The only weight-training area on the beach, muscle beach is home to famous body builders like California’s former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Enjoy an afternoon and evening up the beach at famous Santa Monica’s Pier, shopping districts and nightlife. Just a 10 minute bus ride or a 30 minute walk from the Cotel, you will find shops, art galleries and the Santa Monica visitor’s center with all the information you need about Santa Monica. Great shopping includes the Santa Monica Place mall and the famous outdoor shopping street 3rd St Promenade, just a few minutes’ walk from the Santa Monica Pier and beaches.
Just south of us, you’ll find even more of Southern California’s beautiful beaches. Hermosa Beach and pier are a great spot for daytime beach activities like bike rides, swimming or skating. When you get done, throw something over your swimsuit and head to one of the many restaurants and night spots just off Pier Avenue.
Redondo Beach has been one of SoCal’s premier tourist hot spots for over two decades. With beaches that rival the beauty of those on the Mediterranean, the view is to die for. Visit the boardwalk and pier for dining, entertainment and attractions. With weekly farmers’ markets, champagne and oyster tastings at Bluewater Grille, and the small boat harbor, Redondo Beach is an easily accessible resort town.
Want to experience the time-honored tradition of a beach bonfire? Then you must visit Dockweiler. The only beach in the area with completely legal fire-pits, Dockweiler State Park is located just west of LAX, so you can enjoy the planes taking off right over your head while you roast marshmallows and hot dogs.
