Samesun Venice Hostel Facilities & Amenities
Samesun Venice provide a hotel experience for hostel prices. That means free breakfast, free wifi, free daily hostel activities, daily cleaning service, linens, and much more. Our friendly staff are trained to help make your experience as enjoyable as possible by providing directions, sight-seeing suggestions and anything else we can. Our recent renovations included adding reading lamps for each dorm bed, lockers for each dorm guest, kitchen facilities upgrade and breakfast revamp so you get the best stay possible. We are also currently working on installing a laundry room for the first time in the heritage building’s 110 year history. Samesun guests can leave a laundry bag at the front desk and our staff will wash & dry your items for you – how’s that for hostel service!

Samesun Hollywood’s backpacker hostel and budget accommodation is located on the corner of Hollywood Boulevard & Highland Ave. There is easy access by bus, train & taxi. Step out of our Hollywood hostel onto the famous Walk of Fame, and cross the road for Mann’s Chinese Theater.

From Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
OPTION 1: Public Transportation
Step 1: Look for the green sign that reads “FlyAway, Buses and Long Distance Vans”. Catch the Flyaway bus from the lower terminal level at LAX and get off at the final destination which will be Union Station. Upon arrival at Union Station you will pay $7.00.
Step 2: From Union Station, take the Metro red line subway ($1.25) towards North Hollywood. Get off at the Hollywood/ Highland station. Samesun Hollywood is directly across the street from the Hollywood/Highland metro station.
OPTION 2: Prime Time, Super, or Coast Shuttle vans.
Follow the orange signs for “Shared Ride Vans” outside the LAX luggage pickup area and take one of the shuttle buses. There should be an attendant wearing a red uniform. Explain to the attendant that you are going to Samesun Hollywood at Hollywood and Highland. It will cost $15 per person.
From Greyhound Hollywood
Make sure your bus is arriving at the Hollywood Greyhound station, not one of the other Los Angeles stations. Walk south on Cahuenga Blvd., and cross to the south side of Hollywood Blvd. Turn right heading west on Hollywood Blvd. You will see the Kodak Theater and the Chinese Theater. Samesun Hollywood is right across the street from the Kodak Theater.
From Amtrak/Union Station
Take the red line subway towards North Hollywood and get off at the Hollywood/Highland Station. Coming out of the station, you will see the hostel across the street.
From Downtown Greyhound Station
Walk to 7th/Decatur (about 1 min.) and take Bus 60 (Metro Local line). Get off at 7th Street and Metro Center. Take Metro Red Line (North Hollywood Train) and get off at Hollywood/Highland Station. The hostel is right across the street.

Heading down Windward Ave towards the beach you’ll see the last hotel on the north side covered in murals. Look for the neon “hostel” sign & the archway doors. You can get to our hostel in Venice Beach from LAX Aiport in about 20-30 mins, making our budget accommodation the perfect option for a layover in Los Angeles.

Samesun Venice Beach is located on Windward Ave in the original St. Charles Hotel building, the first hotel in Venice. Windward Avenue was the hub of Venice at its beginnings and still maintains that popularity now, mostly due to new attractions such as the beachfront skate park, artist markets & surf culture. Santa Monica is about a 15 bike ride or 30 min walk along the ocean front from our hostel in Venice Beach.

LAX Super Shuttle
For arrivals at LAX we recommend the Super Shuttle. They are located out front of each terminal and do not require reservations between 8am-10pm. For times outside of this please make a reservation at www.supershuttle.com. The cost for this service is $16. Alternatively a taxi costs around $30 (tell the driver to take Lincoln).
Hostel Hopper Shuttle
Hostel Hopper provides shuttles daily between LAX & Samesun Venice Beach for $20 p/person. It’s cheaper than a taxi and much faster than the bus. Prices vary depending on your destination. They offer shuttles to/from Santa Monica, Hollywood, San Diego, Union Station, 6 Flags, Disneyland and other destinations.
Hostel Hopper have multiple daily departures between Samesun Venice Beach & LAX.

Parking near our Venice Beach hostel
There is plenty of free street parking nearby to the hostel, you just need to know where to look. So we’ve created a special map showing the different types of parking available in our area of Venice Beach. Paid parking lots usually charge from $20 p/day, coin operated meter parking is around $1 p/30mins & there is free parking listed on the map (and many more on the surrounding streets). If you have a lot of luggage, it might be easiest to take a metered street parking right on Windward outside the hostel for 15 mins while you load your bags upstairs, then move your vehicle to a free spot afterwards.
